Diwali: Ayodhya Deepotsav

Legend says that after fourteen years of exile and the defeat of the demon king Ravana, Prince Rama returned to his home city of Ayodhya, and its people lit lamps to welcome him: the origin of Diwali. Today in Rama's hometown, the banks of the Sarayu light up in a single night with more than two million clay lamps, their reflection a flowing river of gold, the most spectacular lamp-lighting ceremony on earth.
