Thaipusam at Batu Caves

Thaipusam is a day Hindus dedicate to Lord Murugan, the god of war. At Batu Caves north of Kuala Lumpur, millions of devotees in yellow carry ornate kavadi barefoot, some with silver skewers through their cheeks, climbing the 272 steps one by one to the sound of drums. It is one of the most gripping religious spectacles in Southeast Asia.
