Takayama Festival

Carving, metalwork and curtains rise on ornate yatai, whose silhouettes glow with lanterns at night. Spring Sanno Matsuri and autumn Hachiman Matsuri are separate shrine festivals with different floats and districts, rather than the same show twice a year.
