Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival

On Lantern Festival night in the Pingxi valley, at a single countdown, a hundred or more lanterns covered in wishes leave their holders' hands together, and candle flames turn the whole night sky into a river of drifting stars. Once a little mountain town sustained by coal mining, it now uses the gentlest of means each year to have people from around the world look up and make a wish together.
