Notting Hill Carnival

On the last long weekend of August, the Victorian terraced streets of West London are flooded with feathers, sequins and thunderous speakers. Hundreds of masquerade bands wind forward to soca and steel pan, while the smell of smoky Jamaican jerk chicken drifts from street corners. It is a love letter from Caribbean immigrants to London, and Europe's biggest street party.
