Sea Turtle Nesting in Tortuguero

Tortuguero is reachable only by boat or small plane; rainforest, howler monkeys and herons line its canals. After dark, follow a guide onto a Caribbean beach and wait in silence. A large green turtle slowly emerges, digs a nest and lays white eggs. This is the Western Hemisphere’s most important green turtle nesting beach and a landmark in sea turtle conservation.
