Silfra Fissure
At Iceland’s Þingvellir, wind and grass form the first layer of the scenery; beneath the mask, a rocky fissure opens into another world. The cold freshwater reveals distant walls and strands of algae with striking clarity, making visitors feel suspended in a blue hallway. Silfra stays cold year-round. Summer mainly improves comfort on shore; it does not turn the water into a warm pool.
