The Sardine Run

Each southern winter, billions of sardines head north along South Africa's east coast, forming a silver flood several kilometres long beneath the surface. Dolphins, gannets, sharks and Bryde's whales come for them, herding the fish into churning "bait balls": a hunting feast known as the "greatest shoal on Earth," and a dream scene for divers.
