Whale Sharks of Ningaloo Reef

Between Western Australia’s red earth and turquoise water, Ningaloo Reef runs for 300 kilometres close to shore. In the austral autumn, coral spawning and plankton draw whale sharks to the reef. A spotter plane searches from above while licensed crews arrange encounters under strict rules; when the signal comes, you slip into the blue.
