Li River at Xingping
The Xingping stretch of the Li River is Guilin karst’s most classic river view: green, tower-shaped limestone peaks line the river, reflected in the water on windless mornings, while spring mist and drizzle fade the distant hills layer by layer. Ha Long Bay is a peak forest drowned by the sea and Yunnan’s Stone Forest is a dense cluster of stone pillars; here it is a river-valley peak forest with reflections, and the area is where the scene on the back of the fifth-series 20-yuan renminbi note was taken.
