Huanglong Travertine Pools

Water flowing down Huanglong Valley deposits pale golden travertine rims around a dense sequence of blue-green pools. The Five-Color Ponds, Golden Sand Beach, waterfalls and mountain forest reveal successive stages of the same process. UNESCO describes these terraces and lakes as unique in Asia and among the world’s three finest examples, rather than the only example on Earth.
