Total Solar Eclipse of 2 August 2027
Just after noon on 2 August 2027, the sky over Luxor will go dark at the height of the sun's fury, for more than six minutes. The colossal columns of Karnak, the ridges of the Valley of the Kings and the Nile all sink into an uncanny dusk. It is one of the longest total eclipses on land this century, staged in the homeland of Egypt's ancient sun god: the most dramatic possible meeting with a vanishing sun.
