Total Solar Eclipse of 12 August 2026

On the evening of 12 August 2026, the moon's shadow makes landfall in Spain from the Atlantic and covers the sun low in the sky just before it sets. It is the first total solar eclipse on mainland Europe since 1999, and millions crowd the northern countryside to watch day fall into night for just over a minute, then return to a sunset in the afterglow.
