Christmas Island Red Crab Migration
On Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean, red crabs normally hide in the rainforest. But when the first heavy rain of the wet season falls, tens of millions of bright red land crabs move out together, flooding roads, climbing house walls and surging toward the coast. The whole island closes roads and builds bridges for them, like a grand parade attended only by crabs.
