Alishan Cherry Blossom Season

At more than 2,000 metres above sea level, spring arrives in Alishan later than in the lowlands, and more dramatically. In mid-March the century-old "Cherry King" spreads a canopy of pink and white before Alishan House, the little red train threads through tunnels of blossom, and when the morning mist lifts, the whole forest looks as if brushed with rouge.
