Holi in Braj (Mathura, Vrindavan & Barsana)

Holi is lively across India, but only in Braj, where Krishna grew up, does it become a week-long carnival marathon: petals rain down inside temples, the women of Barsana raise long sticks to chase the men who come to tease them, and on the main day all of Vrindavan is drowned in pink, yellow and peacock blue. Here you do not watch the festival, you are swallowed whole by it.
