Edinburgh's Hogmanay

In Scotland, the turn of the year matters more than Christmas. In the last days of December, thousands carrying torches wind through Edinburgh's Old Town, a river of flame beneath the castle; on New Year's Eve, Princes Street fills with tens of thousands, midnight fireworks burst above Edinburgh Castle, and the whole crowd joins hands to sing "Auld Lang Syne." It is one of the most famous New Year parties in the world.
